Friday FOs - 01.05.2015

I seem to have been more productive this week as I have finished three items. Here they are!

Beanie in Brown and Yellow
These are the colours of Hawthorn AFL Football Club.

Beanie in Navy Blue and Red
These are the colours of Melbourne Football Club.

Koala
I finally got around to finishing this one. The ears are a different shade of grey because I ran out of the yarn that I was using.

That's it from me for this week. Be sure to check out the links in the sidebar to see what other people have made.

Richard.

Just had to correct the team name on that second beanie. Wouldn't want to upset all them Demons and Bombers supporters.

Wednesday WIPs - 25.03.2015

It has been another busy week here at Rose Manor and, while not all projects have been worked on (it's still too warm for at least one of my projects), progress has been made on most of them.

Here are the WIPs that I have worked on this week.

Shy Butterfly Baby Jacket in 8 ply
I finished the first sleeve and started the second. It shouldn't be too long now before I have this finished.

Woollen Baby Blanket - motifs from Ellen Gormley's book
Almost finished the penultimate row of octagons on this one.

Knitted Scarf
This one is getting close to being finished. Just another couple of repeats of the pattern and it will be as long as I am tall (which is how I measure scarfs).

Koala
This is another item that I have almost finish. I actually ran out of the grey I was using so the ears are a slightly different shade, and I was sure I had made the nose but I can't find it now so I will have to make another one. I think I will have this finished by next week.

Moogly CAL Square # 6
I decided that I should do more 2 colour squares because my first square was done in 2 colours.

Trauma Teddy # 11 for 2015
We're still working out whether it's going to be easier to sew tags on these while they're flat compared to when they have been made up. I'm sure I will get to finish some soon.

My Tablet Carry Bag
Since we're getting new tablets soon (they're currently on lay-by) we thought we would need a better way to carry them around so we each decided to make something that would be quite robust with room for more than just the tablet. I think this one will be big enough to take my music books and some other paraphernalia.

Sue has decided not to join the pieces of her bag until after she has cross-stitched over the rest of it first.

Half of Sue's Tablet Bag
Sue has also made more progress than me because she has been spending all her time on this and not working on all her other projects.

That's it from us for this week. I will have something to show on Friday so be sure to check back then. In the meantime, check out the links in the sidebar to see what other people have been working on.

Wednesday WIPs - 18.03.2015

I have been getting quite forgetful lately. I forgot to post my FOs on Friday, so you will get a double dose this Friday (if I remember), and I forgot to take photos of the WIPs this afternoon and ended up taking them with the flash this evening. Can anybody get me a memory upgrade?

Here are this week's WIPs.

Woollen Baby Blanket - motifs from Ellen Gormley's book
I managed to get some octagons made and attached in between trying to teach a little old lady how to add to a granny square blanket.

Boy's Rugby Jumper
I finished the second sleeve. Now all I need to do is sew all the pieces together, crochet the collar and sew on the zip.

Knitted Scarf
I have had a bit of trouble with the yarn getting tangled so I started on a new ball but I didn't match up the colour repeats very well. I don't think it will make much difference to the final product but I still have quite a bit of the first ball to sort out. Just to make life a little more difficult, it's a mohair/wool/acrylic blend.

Shy Butterfly Baby Jacket
The body is now done and it's time to work on the sleeves. The first sleeve is worked inside out for some reason but who am I to question the designer.

Koala - designed by Planetjune
The legs are now done. I just need to make the ears and nose, sew it all together and embroider the eyes and it will be ready for sale. I ould really like to spend more time making toys but there are so many other things that I need to make.

Trauma Teddy
I don't normally show the makings of my Trauma Teddies but the person that I give these to has requested that I give her one flat. She sews a label onto the bears and wants to see if it's any easier this way.

That's it for the WIPs this week. I will try and remember to post my FOs on Friday but I can't promise anything. In the meantime, check out the links in the sidebar to see what other people have been making.

Wednesday WIPs - 04.03.2015

I haven't done as much this week as I would have liked to but I still got quite a bit done.

Here is some of the items that I have worked on this week.

Woollen Baby Blanket - motifs from Ellen Gormley's book
I managed to finish a row of octagons and start on the next row of squares. A couple more rows of octagons and it will be time to sew in all the ends. I'm not really looking forward to that.

Knitted Scarf
This was one of the projects that I took with me to the Baby Bazaar. The other was the Boy's Jumper.

Boy's Rugby Jumper
I got most of the second sleeve done. I would have finished it if I hadn't started it with the wrong hook. It will be ready for sewing up soon.

Shy Butterfly Baby's Jacket in 8 ply
I have almost finished the body. Soon it will be time to start on the sleeves.

Koala - designed by Planetjune
I thought I had better work on this one this week since I didn't work on it last week. I managed to get the arms done. Just the legs, ears and nose to go and then sew everything together. Should be finished in a couple of weeks.

That's all from me for this week. Come back on Friday to see the other things I have worked on. As usual, check out the links in the sidebar to see what everyone else has been making.

Wednesday WIPs - 18.02.2105

I actually feel like I have been productive this week. I have three FOs, will have a fourth before Friday, and I have worked on most of my WIPs. Here are the items that I have made progress on this week.

On Friday I added a couple of octagons to my woollen baby blanket.

Woollen Baby Blanket - motifs from Ellen Gormley's book
On Saturday, while at Ettamogah Pub Markets (a new one for me), I finished the first sleeve of the boy's jumper.

Boy's Rugby Jumper
I also managed a repeat of the pattern on my knitted scarf.

Knitted Scarf
On Sunday I made the first of my FOs and worked on the body of my Koala.

On Monday I made two more of the FOs and finished the body of the Koala.

Koala
Yesterday I finished the body of the Shy Butterfly Baby Jacket in 4 ply but then had a problem, I don't know what adjustments I need to make to the pattern to do the sleeves.

Shy Butterfly Baby Jacket in 4 ply
I figured it would be easier to figure how to adjust the pattern for 4 ply if I did the 8 ply version first, but that meant finishing off the body of the jacket, so I got it out and got to work.

Shy Butterfly Baby Jacket in 8 ply
I still have a bit to go before I finish the body on this one so the 4 ply version will have to take a back seat for a while.

Today I worked on this week's Trauma Teddy and I hope to have that finished tomorrow.

I will still have something to show on Friday so check back then to see what I have made. In the meantime, click on the links in the sidebar to see what other people are working on.

Friday FOs - 13.02.2015

I have been quite a bit more productive this week than previous weeks and have finished the Koala, however, it seems my memory is still on the fritz as there was something I forgot to add to Wednesday's post. I have included it here even though it isn't technically a finished object.

Moogly CAL Square #3
It is a finished square but it is part of a larger project.

Koala - design by Planetjune
I still can't find my safety eyes so it looks like all my toys will have embroidered eyes for the time being. I think they look just as good and they are actually safer than the safety eyes anyway.

Trauma Teddy #5
Having done 48 of these last year I'm on target to do the same this year.

That's it from me for this week. Check out the links in the sidebar to see what other people have been making.

Wednesday WIPs - 11.02.2015

I think I have made a bit more progress this week. It helped that crochet classes are back and the blanket is making progress, and I had markets on Saturday so I had a bit of time there to knit and crochet. But before I show you what I have made progress on I am going to show you what Sue is currently working on.

Pram Blanket with diamonds
She has had a few issues with this and had to restart it because she was making too many mistakes but it seems to be going OK now.

And now for my WIPs.

Woolen Baby Blanket
I managed to finish one row of squares and start on the next row of octagons.

Shy Butterfly Baby Jacket in 8 ply
I added a couple more rows to this one while watching people walk past my stall.

Knitted Scarf
I knitted one full repeat of the pattern, also while watching people walk past my stall.

Koala
I finished one Koala and started another.

Shy Butterfly Baby Jacket in 4 ply
I even found time to add a few rows to this one.

Tunisian Spiral Blanket
Sue wasn't feeling well yesterday so we ended up at the doctors and I had some time to work on this. Unfortunately, I didn't put the next colour in my bag so I had to abandon it when it became time to change colours.

I also worked on the yarn eater blanket but found a mistake in a previous row (it's so hard to remember to put 12 stitches in the corners instead of 8) and had to rip it out and redo it so there was no real progress made on it.

That's it from me for now. Be sure to check back on Friday to see my finished objects. In the meantime, check out the links in the sidebar to see what others have been making.

Wednesday WIPs - 04.02.2015

This has been another week where I haven't achieved all that I planned to achieve. I only have 3 projects that I have worked on this week, one of these will be shown on Friday. Here are the other two.

Shy Butterfly Baby's Jacket in 4 ply
I have had plenty of trouble with this again this week, having to rip out a couple of rows a couple of times before I got them right. I was obviously not in the right frame of mind and was kinda forcing myself to things done. I'm hoping that things will improve when the weather cools down but that won't be for a while yet.

Koala - designed by Planetjune
I managed to get the ears and nose done and started to sew him together. He is definitely taking shape and will be finished soon.

This afternoon I started on this week's Trauma Teddy and hope to get it finished tomorrow. If I can get it finished with a bit of time to spare I may be able to finish the Koala as well, but don't hold your breath.

As usual, check out the links in the sidebar to see what other people have been working on.

Wednesday WIPs - 28.01.2015

I'm feeling like I have been a bit slack this week as I have worked on only a few of my projects and I don't see much progress.

Other than the Trauma Teddy that I will be showing off on Friday the only projects I have worked on are:-

Square #2 for the Moogly CAL

Shy Butterfly Baby Jacket in 4 ply

Koala - designed by Planetjune
I am liking the Moogly CAL squares as they are quite challenging even for an experienced crocheter such as me.

I had a bit of trouble with the Shy Butterfly as I couldn't remember how to do the row I was on and was too lazy to consult the pattern. I ended up doing about 4 rows worth of crochet but only completed 3 rows.

The progress on the Koala was definitely slack. I'm sure I would have got more than just the legs done if I hadn't been watching TV while working on it. I still have the ears and nose to make before I stitch it all together.

As usual, follow the link in the sidebar to see what other people have been working on.

Wednesday WIPs - 31.12.2014

Another year is coming to an end but before that happens I need to show off what I have been working on over the last couple of weeks.

Before Christmas I managed to make a couple of arms for the Koala.

Koala.
I also managed to add a few rows to the jug cover that I had started.

Small Jug Cover
While I was away visiting my sister, her family and others I did a bit of knitting on the scarf.

Knitted Scarf.
I took some baby yarn with to work on a baby jacket but when I checked the pattern that I wanted to use it was for 8 ply (DK) and I had brought 4 ply so I did a bit of mental arithmetic and started anyway. I did the yoke before deciding to stop until I got home where I had some 8 ply baby yarn that I bought in Ireland. I made the yoke in the 8 ply and checked it against the 4 ply version and found that my math was spot on.

The 4 ply version sitting on top of the 8 ply version for a size comparison.
I didn't expect to get so close with this as I really didn't think I was that good at judging these things.

That's it for my WIPs this year. Be sure to check back on Friday to see my last finished object for the year and again on Saturday for the year in review.

As usual, check the links in the sidebar to see what others have been making.

Wednesday WIPs - 26.11.2014

Hello all,

It seems I have been getting quite forgetful lately. I took photos on Friday and then forgot to post them. I guess this means that you get a double dose this Friday. In the meantime, here are the WIPs that I have worked on this week.

Woollen Baby Blanket - motifs from Ellen Gormley's book
This blanket still has a bit of growing to do but it's getting there slowly.

Baby's Jacket, Pants and Hat set
I got up to the lace edging on the hat but didn't have enough yarn with me to finish it at the time. I think I might be able to finish this for next week.

Knitted Scarf
This scarf is still growing.

Koala
The body is finished, just need to make the ears, arms legs and nose and sew them into place along with the eyes. I was going to use safety eyes for this one but they are somewhere in the garage (I think).

That's it for the WIPs. I will try to remember to post my finishes on Friday but will make no promises. As usual, check out the links in the sidebar to see what others have been working on.

Richard.
