Wednesday WIPs - 01.01.2020

I thought it would be a good idea to start the new year by showing off all my WIPs, so here they are.

A Comfort Bear in the making
This is what this week's comfort bear looked like a 3:00pm. I don't normally show these on Wednesday as I am confident that I can complete it before Friday But thought I might as well include it today.

A Shopping Bag with Pouch
Another bag to add to the collection. This one probably won't be finished by Friday but the one I started last week is so I do have a bag to show off on Friday.

Two Purple Sheep
Two heads, 8 legs and half a body done so far. I doubt if I will get these finished in the next couple of days.

Lounge Chair Cover
I only work on this on Friday evenings after I have posted my finished objects for the week. Most weeks I don't seem to have any time to work on it at all.

Story Time Blanket
Reverse side of Story Time Blanket
This is a project I started a few years ago for the Sunday School kids. I mostly work on this on Friday mornings while at crochet class so it's in time out now due to no classes and being too hot to work on. In the first photo it looks pretty mush done but a close look at the second reveals all the ends yet to be sewn in. I also plan on embroidering a Bible verse in the blank area next to the cross.

Corner to Corner Pixel Blanket
This is one of two projects I work on while at markets. I'm still trying to work out the best way of avoiding having so many ends to sew in. The top left square was my first attempt and there are far too many ends.

Double Knit Butterfly Squares - side one
Double Knit Butterfly Squares - side two
This is the second of the two projects I work on while at markets. I'm still kinda learning the technique and hve recently seen a video on how to cast on for double knitting. Myabe I will try it for the next square.

Hungarian Crochet Squares
This is my 'waiting room' project. I seem to spend quite a bit of time in waiting rooms (might be because of my age) and I need something to work on because I'm not really into reading magazines.

Short Rows Knitted Scarf
This is another project that goes pretty much every where I do but only comes out when I'm bored with everything else. I made one of these in Tunisian Crochet and thought I would try a knitted version.

Sunhat and Bootees
While this is a UFO I'm not sure that it qualifies as a WIP as I don't really have any incentive to finished it. Baby clothes just don't seem to be selling at the moment. It seems that the current generation of parents just aren't interested in putting their kids in handmade clothing.

I should probably check my to-do lost (posted on Monday) to see if I managed to find all my unfinished objects (or make sure they're all listed) but these are the ones that I did find.

That's it for now. Until next time, have a good one.

Friday FOs - 04.10.2019

Not only have I anaged to finish something this week, I managed to remember to photograph it and post it, something that I haven't always managed. Here is my finished object for this week.

Corner to Corner Pram Blanket
I found the dimensions for this type of blanket on the internet and, at 36cm by 44 cm, it seems a little small, but I am a single guy that has never had children so what would I know.

I didn't finish this week's bear so I will have to leave that for another day.

That's it from me for this week. Until next time, have a good one.

Wednesday WIPs - 02.01.2019

It's the start of a new year and I thought I should start the year by showing the status of my WIPs. These are all bar rhe comfort bear and blue horse that I hope to have finished for Friday.

Story Time Blanket
I'm currently working on the border. Once that is finished, I will need to sew in all the ends and embroider a bible verse in the blank area.

Tunisian Sprial Blanket
All the crocheting is done on this, I just need to sew in all the ends.

Corner to Corner Pixel Squares Blanket
This is one of two projects that I have been working on while at markets. I have almost finished crocheting the second square but still have lots of ends to sew in on the first.

Double Knit Butterfly Squares - side 1
Double Knit Butterfly Squares - side 2
This is the second of the projects that I have been working on while at markets. I think I have one quarter of the squares that I need for the full blanket.

Knitted Short Rows Scarf
I started this as an experiment to see if I could do a knitted version of the Tunisian Short Rows Scarf I made a few years ago. I will eventually get around to continuing work on it.

Yarn Eater Squares Blanket
I decided to try this as I had never done it before. Now it's kinda waiting while I get some more of the toys that I'm making finished.

Baby's Sunhat and Bootees in Yellow
One more item from my to-list getting ticked off. I still have a set in white to do once this set is done.

I think that's all of my WIPs. There may be more hiding in one of the boxes that I haven't unpacked yet.  I know I have at least one tartan blanket that my ex-wife wants me to finish, but it will have to wait until I clear some of these other projects.

That's it for now. Until next time, have a good one.

Friday FOs - 28.09.2018

I was out late last Friday and got home too late to post so you get two weeks of finished this week. Here are last week's finished objects.

Corner-to-Corner Pram Blanket
I bought this yarn at last year's Craft Alive and thought it was about time I used it.

Comfort Bear No. 38 for 2018
It was "Sunshine Week" at one of the community centres that I go to so I decided this one needed to have a bright yellow  shirt.

A Flat Yellow Octopus
This is yellow for the same reaon the bear has a yellow shirt, it's flat because one of the ladies at the community centre wanted it that way. She intends to use it as an applique on a kids sea themed blanket.

And now for this week's finished objects.

Yellow Sheep No. 2
Having sold one yellow sheep I figured I needed to make another. I will be making all the other colours soon.

Comfort Bear No. 39 for 2018
Another week, another bear.

Sunhat and Bootees set in mauve
I decided to get the bear out again to model this sunhat and bootees set.

That's it from me for now. Until next time, have a good one.

Wednesday WIPs - 31.01.2018

I have managed to get photos of everything that I have worked on this week and now it's time to show you the WIPs, and here they are.

Rose Corner to Corner Pixel Square
I past the half way point with this one and will soon be able to untangle all the different strands of yarn that have accumulated.

Tiny Owls
I went and bought some more yarn on Monday, just because I get a discount on my birthday, and started making more owls. I figure I would start with the smallest and work my way up.

That's all the WIPs for this week. Everything else that I have worked on this week is now finished. I can't promise that I will be able to post my finishes on Friday but I will try.

Until next time, have a good one.

Wednesday WIPs - 03.01.2018

This being the first Wednesday of the year I thought I had better find all my UFOs and show where thay are all at. I found nine projects in various stages of completion, not incuding the Comfort Bear that I started today. Here they all are.

Large Jug Cover
I had hoped to have this one finished by now but that was not to be.

Appliques
I have almost finished the last Heart. Once that is finished I will need to chose a pattern for the last four appliques. I'm thinking of an angel for the last four.

Tunisian Spiral Blanket
Just one more corner to negotiate, finish up the side then change to black for one more circuit and this will be done.

Corner-to-Corner Pixel Square.
Progress has been quite slow on this one since I have only been working on it at markets and I haven't been to many markets lately.

Double Knit Butterfly Blanket - side 1
Double Knit Butterfly Blanket - side 2
This is another that I only work on at markets so it hasn't seen a lot of progress either.

Story Time Blanket
This one is on hold until I finish the Appliques.

2016 CAL Blanket
I don't know why I haven't joined these yet. I will get around to it sometime this year.

Four Graduation Owls
These were still packed in a box until this afternoon. I didn't know which box they were in and it took a bit of searching to find them, but now that they're found, I will have to get them finished.

Hungarian Squares Blanket
I started this project just because I wanted to try Hungarian Crochet.

I have a lot of projects on the go and soon will have one more. One of my friends from church has asked me to knit him a beanie for which he has agreed to pay me $20. I probably cause myself a few problems but I never knock back a commision job.

I know this is quite a lot of projects to get finished but I'm sure I can get them done. Feel free to offer any words of encouragement you have to offer, they would be most appreciated.

That's it for now. I hope to have something finished for Friday, even if it is only a Comfort Bear.

Wednesday WIPs - 29.11.2017

I thought it was about time I posted some progress shots, so here they are.

Appliques
I'm half way with this project having completed 4 ladies and 4 butterflies. I will be starting on the next set tomorrow.

Butterfly Square side 1
Butterfly Square side 2
I have been to a couple of markets recently so I got this one out to continue.

Rose Corner to Corner Pixel Square
I decided to get this one out at the last market.

Shopping Bag with Pouch
I kinda need to make a few of these as I seem to be able to sell them.

Tunisian Spiral Blanket
I have spent a bit of time in waiting rooms lately this has been added to. A soon as I have squared it up I will switch to black and go around once more.

That's it for the WIPs this week. I have at least one itme finished and, if I remember, I will show it off on Friday.

Wednesday WIPS - 07.03.2017

I have been neglecting this blog for too long and it's time to do something about that. I have missed the last couple of Wednesday WIPs posts because I have started playing darts and I finish quite late on a Wednesday and I didn't do an FO Friday post last week because some of my wife's relatives were in the area and we spent some time with them. Enough of the excuses, here are the items that I have worked on in the last couple of weeks.

Story Time Blanket
Progress on this has been quite slow lately due to me using my crochet class time to finish off the week's trauma teddy. I hope to get a bit more done on this this week but time will tell.

Corner-to-Corner Pixel Blanket
This is the only project that I worked on while at the Baby Bazaar a week and a half ago. I quite like the fact that there are less ends to work in but the yarn is getting quite tangled. I'm sure it will sort itself out once I start on the decreases but I really need to figure out a better system.

Shopping Bag
I'm a little worried that I won't have enough of this cotton to finish this off so I may have to substitute something else. It won't be the first time I've done that so we will see how I go.

That it from me for now. Hopefully I will be back on Friday with at least 2 bears being those completed in the last couple of week. This week's bear may also be finished so you may get to see three.

Wednesday WIPs - 02.11.2016

Firstly, for those that were waiting for my Monday Show Report post, I'm sorry, I forgot again, but don't worry, I've included it in today's post.

And now to your regular Wednesday WIPs feature. I have managed to get a bit more done this week, with a but of time spent in waiting rooms and working security in the Craft Pavilion for a few hours, so here are the items that I have worked on this week.

Story Time Blanket
It seems that having two students and being in a section of the blanket that requires a lot of colour changes means that I don't make a lot of progress. I did make some progress so I guess that's a good thing, and I'm helping others learn the craft so that's an even better thing.

Butterfly Square - Side 1
Butterfly Square - Side 2
I did ten rows on this square while doing my first stint of security in the craft pavilion before heading out to showbag alley to pick up some bags of chocolate.

Rose Corner 2 Corner Pixel Square
This method of carrying the yarn instead of cutting it may save of having fewer ends to sew in but it can get very messy with all the strands of yarn getting twisted and tangled.

Moogly CAL - Block 21
Another block finished! I'm still behind but there is a chance that I will be able to catch up this week.

Tunisian Spiral Blanket
A few more colour changes and I nearly at the next corner. I would say that that is good progress.

And now for the show report. I entered 5 items in this year's show and I managed to get a first and a second in the "Tricot, Broomstick, Hairpin" category, and here they are.

Prize winning Beanie and Scarf.
That just happens to be my favourite category to enter as not many other people do. In saying that I should point out that (a) if the judges didn't think the entries were good enough they wouldn't award a prize and (b) mine weren't the  only entries in that category this year.

That's it from me for now. I will try to get my Trauma Teddy finished this week so that I can show it off on Friday, but don't hold your breath. In the meantime, be sure to check out the links in the sidebar to see what other people have been working on.

Richard.
