FO Friday 27.07.2012

I'm being picked up to travel to Sydney in about an hour so I figured I had better get this posted now rather than later.

Here is my finished object for this week.

Platypus - designed by Planetjune
I quite like Planetjune's patterns, they're very quick to make and quite saleable. The Koala I made a couple of weeks ago sold to the first person that I showed it to and I already had people interested in the Platypus before I even started to make it. I will definitely be making more of these.

Check out the links in the sidebar to see what everyone else has been making, and, if I remember when I get home on Sunday night, I'll add my links to those sites later as it's far too early for them to have their FO Friday posts up.

Have a good weekend everyone.

Richard.

WIP Wednesday 25.07,2012

I've had some drama today, so much that I almost forgot to take photos of my WIPs. I was so late getting the camera out that I needed to use the flash. Something happened on my main laptop and it became unusable. All I did was a regular upgrade of programs that the system said needed to be upgraded and rebooted and that was that. I've found a way to back up my files before I do a reinstall so hoepfully, all will be good, although it looks like not all the file are going to be backed up as there seems to be problems with some of them. Fortunately, I have a second machine that I was mainly using to test some school work that I was doing so I'm able to use it instead, for the time being.

Anyhow, on with the show, here are my WIPs for this week. Only 4 items have made progress this week and 1 of those is now an FO, so here are the other 3.

Segment 5 of Daffodil Teacloth
I made quite good progress on this one and have started the decrease section so the row will be getting shorter.

Toddlers Jacket - Zoom by Ellen Gormley
And a bit more progress on this one also. I'll soon be working on the arms.

Crochenit Cot Blanket
This one keeps growing a little bit each week. Plenty of work to do on this before I do some sort of border.

I will be linking up with the usual crowd again this week. Just check the links in the sidebar if you want to check out what everyone else has been up to.

I'm not sure how I'm going to work my FO Friday post this week as I will be traveling up to Sydney on Friday and will be away from my computer and the internet for the weekend. Rest assured, I will post, but it may be early and I won't be able to my regular linking.

That's it from me for today.

Richard.

The week that was 21.07.2012

I was kinda debating as to whether or not I would do this post this week. It's kinda late and I haven't really done anything exciting this week.

I started back at college this week, although I will be doing most of the work at home. They decided that, since there were so few students signing up for the course that they would cut down the teachers time and put the course online. Things haven't started off extremely well as one of the forums doesn't work properly and my first week's work for one of the subjects kinda got canned, but I'll see if I can bounce back next week.

My crochet classes are still on holidays. They go back in 2 weeks time. I don't know if I'll have any students to teach there. I keep inviting people but they never show up. I'll just have to wait and see.

Hope you all have had a good week. I'll be away at a Men's Bible Convention next week so there won't be a "Week that was" post from me next Saturday.

FO Friday 20.07.2012

Another Friday is here and, knowing how dissappointed you would be is I didn't have anything finished, I have managed to find something that was close to being finished last week and finished it. And her it is.

Squares in Squares Blanket
The finished size is 1.2m across. I would love to give people the pattern for this, it being my own design, but I'm just not sure how to write it up, not having seen any written patterns that use a technique similar to the one I use here.

I am linking up with the usual crowd again this week, just check the sidebar for the links and check them out to see what others have been making.

WIP Wednesday 18.07.2012

We've come to the middle of another busy week. I've mainly been concentrating on one item this week, with a view to getting it finished, which I did last night, so today I played hooky from college to go to Craft and Cuppa and worked on a couple of other projects. Here is this week's progress shots.

Platypus - by Planetjune
I know, all these unfinished items and I go and start another. Well, I sold the koala so quickly, and I've had a few people interested in the platypus, so I decided to get started on it.

Segment 5 of Daffodil Teacloth
I'm up to the decrease stage of this segment so I will be joining it to the others soon.

Crochenit Cot Blanket
I decided that the green that I was adding wasn't really suitable for this as it was the wrong thickness and since I found a new green that was the right thickness I thought I should use it instead. It's a bit brighter than the other coulours that I've used but I'm hoping it will be OK.

Toddler's Jacket - Zoom by Ellen Gormley
I kinda upset the colour pooling on this by adding a new ball of yarn with matching up the colour with where the old ball left off, but I'm sure that won't make too much difference.

Hopefully I'll get to work on the other WIPs soon. I still have to order more wool for my hoodie, and there's still plenty to do on the tartan. I'll see what I can get done before next Wednesday.

I will be linking up with the usual people again this week. Just check the sidebar for the links is you want to check out what other people have been doing this week.

O Boundless Salvation

Today we had a guest speaker as our officers were officially on furlough. I seem to find it a bit difficult to take notes these day since most of the time the sermon is available on youversion. This morning was no exception, especially since the speaker seemed to be talking quite quickly, so there is much in the way of notes.

The sermon this morning was based around the Founders Song so I can at least give you that.

O boundless salvation! deep ocean of love,
O fullness of mercy, Christ brought from above,
The whole world redeeming, so rich and so free,
Now flowing for all men, now flowing for all men,
Now flowing for all men, come, roll over me!

My sins they are many, their stains are so deep,
And bitter the tears of remorse that I weep;
But useless is weeping; thou great crimson sea,
Thy waters can cleanse me, thy waters can cleanse me,
Thy waters can cleanse me, come, roll over me!

My tempers are fitful, my passions are strong,
They bind my poor soul and they force me to wrong;
Beneath thy blest billows deliverance I see,
O come, mighty ocean, O come, mighty ocean,
O come, mighty ocean, and roll over me!

Now tossed with temptation, then haunted with fears,
My life has been joyless and useless for years;
I feel something better most surely would be
If once thy pure waters, if once thy pure waters,
If once thy pure waters would roll over me.

O ocean of mercy, oft longing I’ve stood
On the brink of thy wonderful, life giving flood!
Once more I have reachèd this soul cleansing sea,
I will not go back, I will not go back,
I will not go back till it rolls over me.

The tide is now flowing, I’m touching the wave,
I hear the loud call of the Mighty to Save;
My faith’s growing bolder, delivered I’ll be;
I plunge ’neath the waters, I plunge ’neath the waters,
I plunge ’neath the waters they roll over me.

And now, hallelujah! the rest of my days
Shall gladly be spent in promoting His praise
Who opened His bosom to pour out this sea
Of boundless salvation, of boundless salvation,
Of boundless salvation for you and for me.

Words by William Booth sung to  My Jesus I Love Thee by J. Ellis

It speaks of the grace of God, how it's what we nee, the battle between God and sin and how He is mighty to save.

May God bless you richly this week.

The Week That Was 14.07.2012

Well, this week has been busy with packing, sorting, sending things to the Salvation Army Family Store and throwing things out, all in preparation for moving house. We still haven't got a place to move to, nor the money to move, but we're working on it.

We had a look at a couple of places this week and have been officially rejected for one of them. We haven't heard back about the other yet. We have also found a couple more to look at next week so hopefully one of them will be a keeper.

In the meantime I've been keeping myself busy with crochet and other things. We had friends over to help with some sorting today and I showed them the koala and they said they wanted it and will give us the money on Monday. This means that I've actually managed to sell a second item without ever listing it online or taking it to markets (the first was the scarf I finished a couple of weeks ago). I guess that will be a little help with our finances (very little). Unfortunately, $25 doesn't go very far when you need about $2000.

That's it from me for this week. I hope you all had a good one.

Richard.

FO Friday 13.07.2012

Things have been quite busy this week, what with preparing to move and everything, but they haven't been so busy that I couldn't finish something. I actually forgot what day it was today and forgot to take a picture until quite late so I used my lounge chair as the setting for today's photo.

Koala - pattern by Planetjune
He would probably look better up in a tree but we don't have anything suitable around here anyway. The leafy pattern on the chair is quite apt though.

I will be linking up with the usual crowd this week, just check the sidebar for the links if you want to see what everyone else has been doing.

WIP Wednesday 11.07.2012

Well, I only worked on five items this week (instead of my usual 7), so you only get to see four today as one of those is finished (you get to see it on Friday). Here they are.

Squares in Squares Blanket
Turned another corner on the border.

Crochenit Cot Blanket
Another change of colour. I couldn't find what was left of the variegated yarn I used earlier but I did find a plain green that kinda fits in.

Toddler's Jacket - Zoom by Ellen Gormley
A few more rows have been added to this. It's actually starting to look like a jacket now.

Segment 5 of Daffodil Doily
Somehow I managed to lose the pattern for this this week, but I still have a copy of the chart so I can at least finish the segment and join it to the others. I'm just not sure about finishing the centre so I'll have to see if I can find another copy.

I'm linking up with all the usual people today, just check the sidebar for the links.

The week that was 07.07.2012

Just another normal week here in Rose Manor. A couple of trips to the gym, a lot of crochet and a bit of sorting out boxes.

One of the reasons we got into sorting out boxes is that we have to move again. We received notice this week that the landlord would not be extending our lease and we need to get out. I think the landlord wants to do the place up a bit and try to get a higher rent than he would if he allowed us to stay. Well, I suppose that's his prerogative and we have to live with it.

Sue received a parcel from the UK the other day. It contained memory for our old laptops that died last year. It seems that was the only thing wrong with them and now I have 2 computers. I'm not sure what I'm going to do with the old laptop but I guess it will come in handy if I need to run any Windows programs (I use Linux on my main machine). Until then It will sit on the desk with a blank screen waiting for me to decide.

I finally got around to fixing up some patterns that I plan to publish sometime soon, so, if anyone is interested in making wine glass socks, my patterns will be available on Ravelry soon (for some definition of soon). In the meantime, I'm still trying to figure out how to change the look of this blog to include some more links. Some time ago I signed up for several affiliate programs but don't have anywhere to display the links at the moment so I thought about putting them up here. All the links are pertinent to crafting so I hope that people won't mind a little advertising, and maybe I can make a little money on the side.

That's it from me for this week. I hope you had a good one.

Richard.

FO Friday 06.07.2012

It's Friday again and I have managed to make something again this week and here it is.

Bottle Cosy - Navy Blue
This is done for a Carlton Football Club supporter so don't blame me for the boring colours. I could have probably put the logo on it but that would have taken so much time and effort and I'm not sure whether the person that asked for this would pay double the price of the standard cosy.

I'm linking up with quite a few people these days so I've put the links in the sidebar. I may have to do a redesign and add another sidebar so that I can add a few more links but that can wait a little while.

Richard.

WIP Wednesday 04.07.2012

Happy 4th of July to those of you that celebrate. It's just another day for me here in Australia.

I'm running a little late this evening and it's already after my bedtime so I'll just show you my WIPs.

Rose Clan Dress Tartan Rug

Squares in Squares Blanket

Segment 5 of Daffodil Teacloth

Koala - designed by Planetjune

Toddler's Jacket front view  - Zoom by Ellen Gormley

Toddler's Jacket back view

Crochenit Cot Blanket - back
Lots of progress has been made on all of these and I've managed to make something for FO Friday.

I will be linking up with the usual people although I couldn't find Ambassador Crochet's WIP Wednesday post this week so I'll update this later. I've put the links in the sidebar now if you want to find them all.
