Friady FOs - 28.11.2014

Well, after forgetting to post my FOs last Friday I have managed to remember this week so you get two week's worth of FOs for the price of one.

Trauma Teddy #61

Trauma Teddy #62
Two week's of FOs means two Trauma Teddies.

Small Jug Cover

Small Jug Cover
And two Jug Covers.

We're flying up to Sydney for a couple of days so I expect there will be a bit of waiting room time, time for me to work on a couple of different items, but I don't expect to finish anything extra for next Friday.

As usual, check the links in the sidebar to see what others have been making.

Wednesday WIPs - 26.11.2014

Hello all,

It seems I have been getting quite forgetful lately. I took photos on Friday and then forgot to post them. I guess this means that you get a double dose this Friday. In the meantime, here are the WIPs that I have worked on this week.

Woollen Baby Blanket - motifs from Ellen Gormley's book
This blanket still has a bit of growing to do but it's getting there slowly.

Baby's Jacket, Pants and Hat set
I got up to the lace edging on the hat but didn't have enough yarn with me to finish it at the time. I think I might be able to finish this for next week.

Knitted Scarf
This scarf is still growing.

Koala
The body is finished, just need to make the ears, arms legs and nose and sew them into place along with the eyes. I was going to use safety eyes for this one but they are somewhere in the garage (I think).

That's it for the WIPs. I will try to remember to post my finishes on Friday but will make no promises. As usual, check out the links in the sidebar to see what others have been working on.

Wednesday WIPs - 19.11.2014

Well, I think I managed to work on at least one project everyday this week, which means that I have made progress on most of my projects. Here is what my WIPs looked like at 3:30pm.

Woollen Baby Blanket - motifs from Ellen Gormley's book
I finished the row of squares I was working on last week and started on the next row of octagons.

Baby's Jacket, Pants and Hat set
Finished crocheting the pants and started on the hat.

Knitted Scarf
Added a couple more pattern repeats to this one.

Boy's Rugby Jumper
Finished the front. Now I get to start on the sleeves.

Small Jug Cover
Started a new jug cover after finishing the own I started last week.

Tunisian Spiral Blanket
Finally managed to do enough on this one to make it worthwhile taking a photo. I ran out of the dark purple that I was using and just finished the block with the pale. I will need to go into the garage and see if I can find something suitable in there for the next time I need it.

Koala
Started a Koala to replace the one I sold recently. I couldn't find any grey for this (it's the wrong time of year for yarn shopping) so I went for a bone colour instead.

As you may have already figured out, I will have something other than a Trauma Teddy to show this week so check back on Friday to have a look. In the mean time, check out the links in the side3bar to see what others have been working on.

Friday FOs - 14.11.2014

I have managed to make my regular Trauma Teddy this week as well as one other item. Here are my finished objects for this week.

Trauma Teddy #60
It's kinda hard to believe that I have actually made 60 of these little fellas, 42 of them this year alone. With only about 6 weeks of this year left I won't be making it to 50 for this year. Maybe next year, unless some other project comes up.

Small Jug Cover
I seem to be running low on these so I figured it was about time I started making more of them. They are a pretty good project to work on at this time of year as it is getting far too hot to work on blankets except in air-conditioned venues.

That is all I have managed to finish this week. Check out the links in the sidebar to see what others have been working on.

Wednesday WIPs - 12.11.2014

Well, it's Wednesday once again and time to review my progress for this week. While some of my projects are still languishing on the shelf since we moved others have been worked on and I am making good progress on them. I even started new projects this week.

Here is what my WIPs (those I worked on this week) looked like at about 3pm this afternoon.

Woollen Baby's Blanket - motifs from Ellen Gormley's book
I finished a row of octagon and stated on the next row of squares.

Boy's Rugby Jumper
I managed to progress on this up to the point where I need to divide to allow for the zipper.

Knitted Scarf
A couple more inches have been added to this one.

Baby's Jacket, Pants and Hat set
I almost finished the second leg.

Small Jug Cover
I also worked on a couple of jug covers, one of which is finished and this being the second. I need to make a few of theses and some large ones to make up for the ones I have sold recently and these are quite good projects to work on in the warmer weather.

I also added a few more rows to the Tunisian Spiral that I'm working on but I didn't think it was enough to show, and I worked on my weekly Trauma Teddy which will be finished in time for Friday's post.

That's it for the WIPs this week. Be sure to check back on Friday to see my FOs. In the mean time, check out the links in the sidebar to see what others have been making.

Friday FOs - 07.11.2014

I have been trying to improve my productivity this week and have managed to finish two items, and here they are.

Trauma Teddy #59
I decided to go for a bit of colour for this one, very bright colour.

Wombat
This was an experiment that I started a few week's back but kept forgetting to photograph. I think his nose is a bit too pointy so I may have to do something about that for the next one.

As usual, check out the links in the sidebar to see what others have been making.

Wednesday WIPs 05.11.2014

I kinda feel that I have made more progress this week than I have the last couple even though I didn't do any crafting for two whole days. I did spend a bit of time at the show and worked on several projects while I was there, so, here are most of the projects that I have worked on this week.

Woollen Baby Blanket - motifs from Ellen Gormley's book
I managed to attach five octagons and make another which is now ready to attach.

Boy's Rugby Jumper
I added a few more rows to the front of this jumper.

Knitted Scarf
I added a couple more pattern repeats to this scarf.

Baby's Jacket, Pants and Hat set
And made a good start on the second leg of the pants for this set.

I also worked on Trauma Teddy #59 and a Wombat, both of which will be shown off on Friday.

While you are waiting to see my finished objects for this week feel free to check out the links in the sidebar to see what others have been making.

Monday Mayhem - 2104 Albury Show Report

The Albury show is over and done with for another year and planning has already started for next year's entries. I haven't quite finished with this year's entries though as now I need to tell you all how I went.

I entered ten items this year but ran foul of the judges on a few of them. I didn't check the tickets that were printed out as I expected them to be correct, especially after I pointed out that there was an error in the booklet and both doilies and baby boottees had the same class number, but my boottees were entered as doilies and were therefore not judged. There was also an issue with my doilies which hadn't been pressed and stuck onto cardboard. I will do better next year.

So, of the nine items that were judged, two were placed first and three were placed second, so I didn't do too bad. The items that I entered were two crocheted Baby Blankets, a Tunisian Crochet Lace Wrap, a Tunisian Crochet Spiral Blanket, a Toddler's Jacket, a pair of Baby's Boottees, a Pineapple Doily, a Cheval Set, a Knooked Beanie and a Knooked Scarf. Following are photos of the prize winners.

Two Baby Blankets
Both my Baby Blankets scored a prize even though they weren't the only Baby Blankets entered.

Toddler's Jacket
My Toddler's Jacket managed second but I think there were only two entered.

Tunisian Spiral Blanket and Tunisian Lace Wrap
And both my items entered under the Tricot, Broomstick or Hairpin section were awarded prizes. One of these days someone else will enter something in this category and I will have some competition.

The judges do reserve the right to not award prizes in a category if they deem that the entries aren't good enough so it seems that mine must have been good enough even is those categories that I didn't have a lot of competition.

I have already decided that the beanie that I finished a couple of weeks ago and the scarf that I started will be put aside for next year. Also the woollen baby blanket that I have been working on. This means that I already have one finished item for next year's show and two others that are too far away.

That's it for this report. Come back on Wednesday to see how much progress I have made on my current projects.

Richard.
