Friday FOs - 28.02.2014

The last official day of Summer here in Australia and it was quite cool and miserable. The weather kinda added to the occasion as we were at a funeral this morning, but that's a story for another day. What you really want from me today is to see all my finished objects from the last couple of weeks, and here they are.

Box Stitch Baby Blanket
This was a joint project between Sue and myself. Sue started it and I finished it. Now I need to go through Sue's WIPs to see which one I am going to take over next.

Frida the Fish
I made a small mistake with the tail but I think she still looks OK. I was supposed to change to the dark orange but I didn't read the instructions properly. I plan on making another straight away and I will try to get it right.

Clara the Robot
For some reason this one seems to twist around more than the ones I've made previously. It makes it look a bit odd but I suppose I can sell is as unique.

Trauma Teddy #24
This is the 8th Trauma Teddy I have finished this year. I do have another that I started but I wasn't going to be able to get a photo so I didn't bother finishing it. It will be finished for next week though.

That's all my finished items for the last two weeks. To see what everyone else has been making just click on one of the links in the sidebar.

Wednesday WIPs - 26.02.2014

There wasn't as much crochet done this week as I only worked on one of the projects that I took with me for our weekend away and had trouble with another that had a mistake in it that I didn't find until I had added a few rows to it. I have managed to work on 5 WIPs this week, one of which is finished. Next week I may start on a few more to make up for the finished objects that I have managed to accumulate.

Here are the WIPs that I have worked on since last Wednesday.

Knooked Beanie
I have started decreases for the top of the beanie. It won't be long before this one can be added to the finished pile.

Cheval Set
This is the one that gave me trouble this week. I made a mistake in round 8 that meant that round 12 didn't work out, so I had to frog back to the mistake, then I forgot for a little while whether I was working with a European or US pattern and made more mistakes which had to be frogged. In the end, two rows were add to what I had done last week but it took all of my crochet time yesterday to get there. At this rate it will take months to get this set done.

AustralianaV2 - designed by me
This has to be the easiest section of this table runner as I don't need to consult the pattern to see what comes next. The part of the flag pole that I'm working on is 14 rows of the same thing.

Tunisian Lace Wrap
A couple of stints in waiting rooms today meant that I managed to add a couple more rows to this one.

We're going away for a couple of day again this week as we have a funeral to attend on Friday morning but I should be back Friday evening. Since we expect to be getting back too late to take photos I took the photos this afternoon at the same time as I photographed the WIPs so, unless I'm so tired I can't keep my eyes open long enough to post, there should be a FO Friday post this week.

In the meantime, checkout the links in the sidebar to see what everyone else has been making.

Wednesday WIPs - 19.02.2014

Wednesday is here again and it's time to show you all what I have been working on this week. Well, at least those things that are still WIPs anyway. Her they are.

A Cheval Set
Since I found the vintage pattern book I was looking for earlier I decided to start on the Cheval Set. This is the larger of the three doilies that make up the set.

Woollen Baby Blanket
This is going to be my go-to project during the Friday morning crochet class, at least until someone comes along and actually wants me to teach them something.

Tunisian Lace Wrap
I think I'm making good progress on this one and it's looking quite good.

Baby's Jacket, Pants and Hat Set
I making visible progress on this now. The legs are working up quite quickly.

Box Stitch Baby Blanket
This looks like it will be my next finished object. Only a little to go now then sew in all the ends.

AustralianaV2
This seems to be one of those projects where progress is quite visible. Every few rows something new is revealed, until now. The next dozen rows are all the same as I work my way down the flagpole.

Knooked Beanie
I'm still not sure if the special stitches have actually worked the way I wanted them to, and they were quite a problem to do as it took three attempts to get them right. I will reserve my opinion until it's blocked.

Toddler's Jacket - Zoom by Ellen Gormley (GoCrochet)
Since I managed to find the yarn I wanted I have dug this one out of hibernation and started work on it again. There was a small problem with a difference in the dye lots but I think I've managed to overcome that by alternating the two dye lots. It did mean frogging the sleeve I had finished and working it flat but I think that's better than have one whole sleeve looking different to the rest of the article.

There are a couple of other items that I have worked on this week but, since they are finished, you will have to wait a little longer to see them, especially since Sue and I are going away this weekend and I won't be around to post this Friday. In the meantime, check out the links in the sidebar to see what everyone else has been doing.

Saturday Shenanigans - 15.02.2014

This week has been quite busy on the crafting front, especially with crochet classes starting back yesterday. I've managed to get quite a bit done and even finished a few pieces. Of course I've started more to make up for the finishes.

Sue went away for the weekend to a Women's Bible Camp so I'm by myself for a few days. That doesn't necessarily mean that I can get away with anything it just means that I have to make sure there isn't any evidence when she returns. I told her that I might go for a little drive today and her response was to put in an order for some lollies. I didn't even mention that I would be going near Beechworth. Does this mean she knows me too well?

So, today I drove out to Beechworth. My primary reason was to check the yarns in Nelly's Niche but I did go to the sweets shop first. I actually found the yarn that I had run out of in making a toddler's jacket but it's a different dye lot. There isn't a lot of difference and I can hide it by alternating rows so hopefully it will come out OK.

That's all for this week. I hope you all had a good one.

Friday FOs - 14.02.2014

Happy Valentine's Day to all that celebrate. This week I have managed to finish a couple of my longer term projects as well as one of my regular items. Here they are.

Pineapple Doily
I find it amazing how flat this sits now that it's completed compared with a few weeks ago. I will be making another of these eventually as I would like to have a pair for the market stall but I only need one for the show later this year.

Tunisian Spiral Blanket
I would have liked to make this larger but without more of the variegated yarn it just wasn't really possible. I think another round of black would have been too much. This is another blanket that I would like to try again sometime but it will have to be done using scraps next time.

Trauma Teddy # 23
Or # 6 for 2014 if you would prefer. The lady that distributes these hasn't been at church lately so there is a bit of a stockpile building up.

That's all from me for this week. I won't be able to do a Friday FOs post next week as Sue and I are going away for the weekend. Check out the links in the sidebar to see what others have made this week.

Wednesday WIPs - 12.02.2014

It's Wednesday again and since last week I've managed to work on 10 different projects. It should have been 11 but I was a bit slack yesterday and didn't do any crafting at all. Two items have been finished and a third should have been finished today but, again, I was a bit slack and didn't finish my Trauma Teddy for this week. I haven't taken photos of it either so you only get to see 7 WIPs today. The Teddy will be finished for Friday so you will get to see it then.

Here are my WIPs for this week.

Baby's Jacket, Pants and Hat Set
Definite signs of progress here as I start down the first leg.

Frida the Fish
The tail is finished, the fins are made and just need to be attached and the eyes still need to be made and attached. I think I might have this one finished for Friday week. I did discover that I had made a small mistake with the tail. I was supposed to change to the darker orange. Too late now. I will be making another in different colours so maybe I'll remember when I get to do the tail on it.

Clara the Robot
This one now has arms a legs. Just need to do the facial features and the heart embellishment and it will also be done. Looks like I might have a couple of extra things finished for next week.

AustralianaV2 - designed by me
Progress has been a little slow on this one this week with only four rows done. Maybe I will get a bit more done next week.

Box Stitch Baby Blanket
Another item that is almost finished. I might just hold off finishing this one for a couple of weeks. I don't want to have too many finished items all together as it may be a few weeks before the next ones.

Knooked Beanie
I finally got to the special stitches that I want to try and they're not looking as good as I had hoped. Maybe they will look better once this has been blocked.

Tunisian Lace Wrap
I have made pretty good progress on this one. This is another item that I think will look better blocked as the tks sections tend to want to curl quite a bit. I will have to wait and see what it is like when it is finished.

That's all I have to show you today. Check back on Friday to see what I've finished this week. In the mean time, check out the links in the sidebar to see what everyone else has been making.

Saturday Shenanigans - 08.02.2014

All the usual activities are starting up again. Everyone thinks that the new year starts at the beginning of January but the first full week of February is when things really get started.

We had the Mirambeena Activities Group Open Day on Monday. This is the day that all the tutors sit around trying to sign up students for the new year. If the classes can get six of more students then the tutors can actually get paid. We got one and a half for the crochet class. One of our regular crocheters is going to join us again. I'm not sure if she actually wants to learn something or if she is just going to sit and crochet with us. The other is the tutor for the light exercise class. Since her class finishes at about 10:30 she figures she can sit in on another class and has expressed an interest in learning Tunisian (I think she want to make a spiral blanket like the one I've just about finished).

Sue has started going back to the pool in an effort to lose a bit of weight. I guess that means that I had better start walking around the block so I can keep up with her.

Band practice had its first session for the year on Thursday night. Not particularly exciting for most people but it does help us get our heads around the tunes we're expected to play on Sunday morning.

This morning I was back in Myrtleford to try and sell my wares. It was a very quiet morning and a couple of us didn't manage to sell anything. I'm glad I wasn't alone with that. Next month there is a festival on that weekend and we will be in competition with two other markets in the same town. It's usual a busy morning so I'm hoping it will be again.

That's been my week this week. I hope you all had a good one.

Friday FOs - 07.02.2014

Another Friday has come and it's time to show off my finished objects. I have something a little different for you this week as well as something the same. Here they are.

Fan Bookmark in Variegated Orange

Fan Bookmark in Variegated Green
I sold one of these last week and only had one left in stock so I though I had better do something about it.

Trauma Teddy # 22
Number 6 for 2014.

I should have a couple of other things to show next Friday as I have at least two objects that are close to completion, in the mean time, check out the links in the sidebar to see what others have made.

Wednesday WIPs - 05.02.2014

Another week with lots of WIPs worked on as well as a few finished objects.

Here are my WIPs.

Knooked Beanie
I am getting a little closer to where I want to put my special stitches. Something that couldn't be done with knitting needles, but you will have to wait to see them.

Pineapple Doily
Just need to finish the border and sew in the ends and this will be finished and ready for the show.

Box Stitch Baby Blanket
Getting closer to the last corner.

Tunisian Spiral Blanket
On the home straight with this one.

AustralianaV2 - designed by me
Another 8 rows done and I've started on the flag pole. The end is in sight.

Baby's Jacket, Pants and Hat Set
I have a bit to do before I divide for the legs.

Frida the Fish
Almost got the tail done. I don't really have the correct tools for this job and I have found it quite difficult, but I'm getting there and I'm sure it will still look tail-like.

Clara the Robot
The head and body are complete. Now for the arms legs and antennae

Tunisian Lace Wrap
I seem to miss stitches when starting the tks sections but I'm sure no one will really notice.

That's all my WIPs for this week. I haven't started anything new. I might start something when crochet class starts next Friday.

As usual, check out the links in the sidebar to see what everyone else has been making.

Saturday Shenanigans - 01.02.2014

Well, this week has been somewhat better than last week. I still get the occasional dizzy spell but at least my stomach isn't doing backflips. Thank God for small mercies.

This week saw the return of Craft'n'Cuppa for the year. Unlike other church programs we don't fit our schedule in with the school terms. We like to keep busy and enjoy the company of those that feel the same. It also coincided with my birthday so I'm no longer 55.

Today I went to try out a different market. People that I see at Myrtleford suggested that I try Mt Beauty, so today I packed up the car and drove the 1 hour 15 minutes to Mt Beauty to set up my stall. It was a quiet day, mainly due to the heat, with very few stall holders brave enough to come out, but there were a few hardy souls that came to see what was on offer. All I can say is, if this is how good I go on a quiet day, what is going to happen on a busy day? While sales were a bit slow what sales I did make were quite good and I ended up with $60 in sales. With a $40 break even mark that means that I made a $20 profit!

These have bee the high points of my week. I hope you all had a good one.

Richard.
