The Albury show is over and done with for another year and planning has already started for next year's entries. I haven't quite finished with this year's entries though as now I need to tell you all how I went.
I entered ten items this year but ran foul of the judges on a few of them. I didn't check the tickets that were printed out as I expected them to be correct, especially after I pointed out that there was an error in the booklet and both doilies and baby boottees had the same class number, but my boottees were entered as doilies and were therefore not judged. There was also an issue with my doilies which hadn't been pressed and stuck onto cardboard. I will do better next year.
So, of the nine items that were judged, two were placed first and three were placed second, so I didn't do too bad. The items that I entered were two crocheted Baby Blankets, a Tunisian Crochet Lace Wrap, a Tunisian Crochet Spiral Blanket, a Toddler's Jacket, a pair of Baby's Boottees, a Pineapple Doily, a Cheval Set, a Knooked Beanie and a Knooked Scarf. Following are photos of the prize winners.

Two Baby Blankets |
Both my Baby Blankets scored a prize even though they weren't the only Baby Blankets entered.

Toddler's Jacket |
My Toddler's Jacket managed second but I think there were only two entered.

And both my items entered under the Tricot, Broomstick or Hairpin section were awarded prizes. One of these days someone else will enter something in this category and I will have some competition.
The judges do reserve the right to not award prizes in a category if they deem that the entries aren't good enough so it seems that mine must have been good enough even is those categories that I didn't have a lot of competition.
I have already decided that the beanie that I finished a couple of weeks ago and the scarf that I started will be put aside for next year. Also the woollen baby blanket that I have been working on. This means that I already have one finished item for next year's show and two others that are too far away.
That's it for this report. Come back on Wednesday to see how much progress I have made on my current projects.
Richard.
